After noticing that you may be suffering from bacterial vaginosis, it is important to seek out bacterial vaginosis treatments as soon as possible. However, it might take some time until you finally get a chance to go and see your doctor’s after making an appointment; in the meantime, there are some things that you can do and cannot do while you wait to undergo formal bacterial vaginosis treatments.

Here are some things that you need to practice, apart from the medications, to make sure that your bacterial vaginosis condition will not worsen. Moreover, some of these procedures could help in minimizing the condition and even help to reduce it later on.

The Things You Should Do

Maintain a good vaginal hygiene. It is important to keep the vaginal region clean and dry every time after you urinate or defecate. Keeping yourself clean will help to minimize the problems and discomfort felt when undergoing bacterial vaginosis treatments. Always wipe from front to back to eliminate the risk of infection. You can make use of specified medical wipes if you feel more comfortable. Moreover, doing this will also help eliminate excess moisture which could be a cause for the growth of bacteria.

Eliminating excess moisture in the vaginal region can also help. If you do this, you can go ahead and prevent the proliferation of bacteria in your private part. Microorganisms thrive in damp areas and even though there is a natural reservoir of bacteria in the vaginal region, you do not want to let them keep proliferating if you are suffering from BV.

The Things You Should Not Do

Refrain from wearing tight underwear. When suffering from bacterial vaginosis, you will experience plenty of itching and burning in your vaginal area. You do not want to add to the problem by wearing super tight underwear. Moreover, the friction that it causes can instigate plenty of discomfort on your part. If possible wear underwear that is made from cotton. Tight materials that do not allow air flow could also cause plenty of distress and problems.

Avoid vaginal douches. Women think that this will go ahead and eliminate their problem when in fact; it could go ahead and just worsen the condition. It could also spread bacteria even more especially to uninfected regions instead of eliminating them.

Taking all these tips and in mind will help make your bacterial vaginosis treatments become more effective and successful. It is important to keep away from things that could cause more harm than help to this problem.
