In order to get rid of bacterial vaginosis, it is important to know the different kinds of bacterial vaginosis symptoms. BV is actually a very common problem among women. In fact, it is more common to experience this problem rather than a yeast infection. One of the most prominent bacterial vaginosis symptoms include a foul smelling odor emanating from the vaginal discharge. It can be so pungent that it causes embarrassment for most women with this problem.
Of course, bacterial vaginosis symptoms may vary from one person to another. Sometimes it will not even manifest itself, but when tested, a woman will come out positive with the condition. This is one reason why it is essential for a woman to visit a gynecologist for a checkup at least once a year to make sure that everything is all right.
As mentioned, bacterial vaginosis symptoms are quite similar with those found in yeast infections. Hence, it is often misdiagnosed. However, you can subtly tell whether what you have is BV or yeast infection by looking at the vaginal discharge. For yeast infections, the discharge is usually yellowish to white in color while those of bacterial vaginosis are usually grayish with a hint of yellow. Another aspect of the discharge will be its consistency; for yeast infections, it is usually thick while those of BV are quite watery.
Women with BV often complain of a pain in the vaginal area, which is apparent during or after sexual intercourse. A burning and itching sensation is also a common complaint with this problem. However, it is the odor that is most noticeable. Just keep in mind that this can be eradicated and treated so you will not have to suffer forever.
One good way to counter this problem with BV is to take in or eat plenty of yogurt, ones without sugar in it. Yogurt contains good bacteria that help to increase the good bacteria already in your body and fight off the proliferation of the bad bacteria causing BV. When you take in antibiotics, it will just kill off both good and bad microbes without discriminating. This is one reason why it is not a good permanent cure. Besides that, the next time it happens, you will find that the bacteria have become immuned to the medication and it will not have any effect anymore.
You can also go for different natural treatments to get rid of this condition. For instance, you can use apple cider vinegar as well as raw garlic for treatment. Just make sure you know how to use them properly so that you can avoid complications.
